About Us

The Childcare Centre at Wattisham Airfield is located next to the Community Centre outside of the airfield base. We cater for children from both the local community and further afield.

It is managed on a day to day basis by the Centre Manager. It is run by a committee consisting of a Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer as well as several other key members selected from parents whose children attend the Centre and significant figures from the community. Parents are welcome to join the committee up to a maximum of 12. We feel the partnership between the Centre and parents is paramount to the children’s care and education.

Parents as partners

We share a joint aim, in that we wish to provide the best care and education for your child. Working together we can create an environment which is positive and shows mutual respect. We encourage all parents to become active members of the Centre and value your views and opinions.

We believe communication is key to any partnership. To aid this communication we produce regular newsletters, provide opportunities for parents and key persons to get together and discuss the child learning and development through formal and informal meetings, as well as operating an open door policy.

When your child starts at the Centre you will be asked to complete an ‘All about Me’ on the child’s first taster session giving as much information about your child as possible. Your child will then be allocated a key person who will get to know you, your child and family. Your child’s likes and dislikes and build a relationship in which together we can develop your child’s needs.
